Sunset’s youth leadership program is based
on Stanford University’s “Youth Engaged in
Leadership and Learning.” http://gardnercenterstanford.edu/current_initiatives/yell.html
Leadership is a process not a class. Participants
will develop a project that benefits the
neighbourhood, the city or a specific group.
Working over 18 months participants will:
• create a business plan to develop their
project;
• produce a communications strategy to
articulate their project;
• develop measurable outcomes to evaluate
their project;
• enhance and strengthen leadership skills
to recruit, train and manage volunteers.
The Goals of Sunset’s Youth Leadership
program are:
• develop meaningful involvement
opportunities for and with youth;
• showcase these projects to the larger
community and;
• provide youth with concrete resume,
scholarship and post secondary
application material.
